KATHMANDU: Executive Committee members of Merchant Bankers Association of Nepal (MBAN) on Thursday paid a courtesy call on Dr Gopal Prasad Bhatta, the newly appointed chairman of the Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON), to congratulate him on taking office.
MBAN extended its best wishes and expressed confidence in Bhatta’s leadership at a critical juncture for Nepal’s capital market. SEBON chairman Dr Bhatta thanked MBAN for the goodwill visit and welcomed continued engagement between MBAN and the regulator.
The two sides held substantive talks on market priorities, focusing on mutual funds, initial public offerings and private equity. They highlighted the need to boost investor confidence and create a more conducive investment climate to support long‑term market development.
Participants underlined the importance of greater transparency and sound governance across market institutions as essential to strengthening trust among investors and other market participants.
The meeting concluded with MBAN and SEBON reaffirming their commitment to work closely together to support the sustained and orderly growth of Nepal’s capital market.
