LALITPUR: Fonepay has launched a new online payment service, 'Checkout by Fonepay', aimed at speeding up and simplifying e-commerce payments. The company said Fasto is the first merchant to go live with the service.
The product allows customers to complete payments directly within a merchant’s checkout flow, removing steps that often interrupt purchases such as switching apps, re-entering credentials, waiting for OTPs and returning to the merchant site. Fonepay said the change is intended to reduce abandoned carts and improve payment completion rates.
'Checkout by Fonepay' is available through the mobile banking apps of 11 financial institutions: Agricultural Development Bank, Citizens Bank International, Garima Bikas Bank, Kumari Bikas Bank, Laxmi Sunrise Bank, Manjushree Finance, Muktinath Bikas Bank, Nabil Bank, Prabhu Bank, Rastriya Banijya Bank and Sanima Bank. Fonepay said it will add more banks, financial institutions and merchant platforms in the coming months.
Diwas Kumar, CEO of Fonepay, said, "As e-commerce continues to grow, payments should be as seamless as the shopping experience itself. Checkout by Fonepay is designed to eliminate friction during online payments, making transactions faster and more convenient for customers while helping merchants improve their checkout experience. We are delighted to launch this solution with Fasto, whose promise of fast delivery perfectly complements our vision of delivering a fast and seamless checkout experience."
As the first integration, Fasto customers can now pay using 'Checkout by Fonepay' during the ordering process. To mark the launch, Fonepay and Fasto have introduced a consumer campaign titled 'What the FAST! – Fatafat Order. Fatafat Checkout.' From July 7 to 13, 2026, customers who order through Fasto and pay with 'Checkout by Fonepay' can receive 20% cashback, up to Rs 1,000.
Fonepay said the rollout is part of its broader effort to strengthen Nepal’s digital payment ecosystem through secure, user-focused solutions, and that wider availability across banks and merchants will follow.
