KATHMANDU: Minister for Agriculture, Forests and Environment Gita Chaudhary has instructed all departments and bodies under the ministry to adopt a results‑oriented approach by expanding youth‑targeted employment, paid training and volunteer opportunities.

Speaking at a meeting with chiefs of the Nepal Agriculture Research Council (NARC), Dairy Development Cooperation, Herbs Production and Processing Company, the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology and other subordinate bodies today, Chaudhary said activities should be carried out in a way that makes citizens aware of them, noting that young people have placed their trust in the incumbent government.

She said she was prepared to make legal and policy‑level arrangements to support the initiative.

The minister directed line departments and bodies to prepare detailed action plans showing how many young people they could employ, train on a paid basis or engage as volunteers, and to submit the proposals to the ministry within this month.

Urging officials to work in an implementation‑ and results‑oriented manner, she stressed the need to develop the agriculture, forests and environment sectors into attractive employment options for young people.

Departmental chiefs told the meeting that paid and unpaid programmes, as well as volunteer schemes, are already being held by their offices across the country. They added that efforts to involve students through internships in collaboration with universities have been hindered by certain legal provisions.
