NEPALGUNJ: Nepalgunj Sub-metropolitan City has approved a budget of Rs 1.76 billion for upcoming fiscal year 2026/27.
The 19th Municipal Assembly on Saturday passed the budget at a meeting chaired by Mayor Prashant Bista. The assembly approved proposals for the beautification of the area around the 'Bagishwari Temple', works at the 'Khadeshwor Junge Mahadev Temple', erection of a 108-foot-tall Hanuman statue, construction of commercial buildings, improvement of the entrance to the Jamunaha checkpoint and the construction of a city bus park.
The budget states that the detailed project report (DPR) for the 'Nepalgunj Ring Road' will be completed shortly and that steps to begin implementation will follow.
Key priorities set out in the budget include sustainable urban development, increased revenue generation, improved service delivery, conservation of lakes and parks, promotion of greenery and effective monitoring of projects.
Nepalgunj, in Banke district, is one of four sub-metropolitan cities among 109 local governments in Lumbini Province.
