KATHMANDU: Two engineering students in Nepal have launched a free online platform that lets citizens report local infrastructure issues directly to people's representatives.
Suhrit Ghimire and Shreevatsa Acharya said they created 'Suchak' to help residents report problems such as potholes, leaks and power outages. The platform, available at www.suchak.online, accepts informal reports from users and uses artificial intelligence (AI) to formalise those reports and route them automatically to relevant local officials, including ward chairpersons, mayors and Members of Parliament.
Ghimire and Acharya said, “As a free public utility, our goal is to improve civic accountability."
Suchak is a civic tool intended to increase transparency and speed up responses to everyday municipal problems by connecting citizens’ reports with the appropriate officials. The platform is being offered at no cost to users.
