KATHMANDU: Dusit Thani Himalayan Resort Dhulikhel Nepal has appointed Ankit Sharma as its new general manager, the resort announced on Friday.

Sharma, who had been serving as hotel manager at the property, takes on the top operational role after more than 18 years in the hospitality industry across Nepal and India. His résumé includes leadership posts with Hilton Hotels & Resorts, Marriott International and Starwood, and expertise in hotel operations, commercial strategy, revenue optimisation and brand development.

Resort officials said Sharma helped raise service standards and improve operational performance and guest experience during his time as hotel manager. In his new role, he will lead efforts to enhance guest offerings and develop staff talent under Dusit’s signature gracious hospitality.

"I am honoured to take on the role of General Manager at Dusit Thani Himalayan Resort Dhulikhel and continue my journey with this exceptional property. Sharma said. Over the past months, I have had the privilege of working alongside a passionate team dedicated to delivering heartfelt hospitality and meaningful guest experiences. I look forward to building on this strong foundation, further elevating our offerings, and strengthening Dhulikhel’s position as a premier luxury destination in Nepal."

Located just over an hour’s drive from Tribhuvan International Airport and about three kilometres from the Namo Buddha Monastery — one of Nepal's most revered Buddhist pilgrimage sites- the resort sits in the Himalayan foothills. It offers 72 rooms and suites, including 18 private villas, and markets itself for leisure, wellness, celebrations and corporate retreats.

Dining options include Thaan, an all-day restaurant with international cuisine and live cooking stations, and Bela, a poolside bar with hill views. Wellness facilities at Devarana Wellness feature spa therapies, yoga, meditation, a fitness centre, an infinity pool, an outdoor jacuzzi, steam and sauna. The resort also provides a pillarless ballroom with a panoramic terrace, two meeting rooms and a landscaped event lawn for weddings and corporate events.
