ICAN holds oath-taking for new president, VP; hosts valuation conference

KATHMANDU: The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nepal (ICAN) held an oath‑taking ceremony for its newly elected President and Vice President for the third term of the 10th Council.

In accordance with statutory provisions, incoming President CA Anand Raj Sharma Wagle took the oath of office before Auditor General Toyam Raya, who served as the chief guest. President Wagle then administered the oath of office and secrecy to newly elected Vice‑President CA Hem Kumar Kafle.

Outgoing President CA Nil Bahadur Saru Magar welcomed participants and highlighted the principal activities and achievements of his tenure before formally handing over the Presidential Medallion and the office to President Wagle.

During the proceedings, Auditor General Raya unveiled ICAN’s new official logo, marking an institutional milestone to strengthen the Institute’s identity and branding. ICAN students who won the SAFA Quiz 2025 and the SAFA Public Speaking Contest 2025 in Bangladesh were also felicitated.

Prior to the ceremony, ICAN hosted a technical conference entitled 'Dynamics of Business Valuation', designed to enhance professional knowledge, contemporary understanding and practical competence. Technical sessions covered emerging valuation trends, methodologies and practical applications and noted the growing significance of business valuation in today’s commercial environment.

Delegates were introduced to the newly published 'ICAN Valuation Manual, 2083', a technical reference guide for members that aims to promote consistency, reliability and quality in valuation practices by guiding professional standards, principles and practices.

The gathering was attended by council members, past presidents, chartered accountants and other distinguished guests.
