KATHMANDU: Finance Minister Dr Swarnim Wagle on Saturday urged Nepalis living abroad to invest in Nepal to support the country’s development and prosperity.

Speaking in a virtual discussion with young Nepali entrepreneurs based in Australia, Dr Wagle asked the diaspora to take confidence from the government’s and the Rastriya Swatantra Party’s concept of 'once a Nepali always a Nepali'.

The minister’s personal secretariat said Dr Wagle called Nepalis abroad 'goodwill ambassadors' who can extend support and cooperation to the government’s economic development efforts. He highlighted recent tax and revenue measures and industry-friendly policies introduced to spur economic activity.

The finance minister also said those willing to invest would be able to repatriate returns easily. “NRN bond, offshore bond, alternative finance mobilisation were some of the transformative schemes launched by the government considering diaspora Nepalis,” the minister said during the discussion.
