Samriddhi Foundation hosts Sambad@Samriddhi with Murahari Parajuli

KATHMANDU: Samriddhi Foundation organised 'Sambad@Samriddhi' in Kathmandu on Friday, featuring Murahari Parajuli, spokesperson for the Nepal Stock Exchange.

The discussion was divided into three sections: Samaaj, Satta and Samriddhi.

On Nepali society, Parajuli said the country had not yet advanced fully into capitalism. “We are still operating within the framework of the constitution. We are moving toward a new destination, away from feudalism, but our society has not yet fully transitioned into capitalism,” he said.

Speaking on state power, Parajuli said the government reflected society’s thinking, while society itself was far broader in scope. “There is a common perception that the state, the government, and the economy are the same, but this is not true. These are distinct entities, each with its own separate identity,” he said.

On government, he noted that although the cabinet’s size may have been reduced, the responsibilities and role the government is expected to fulfil remain unchanged. “A smaller cabinet does not, in itself, translate into reduced revenue collection or lower public expenditure,” he said.

He also emphasised the need to strengthen the capital market, manage inflation, build private sector confidence and upgrade policy frameworks for Nepal to achieve its targeted economic growth.
