DCSCP urges importers, sellers and platforms to stop selling banned goods

KATHMANDU: Department of Commerce, Supplies and Consumer Protection (DCSCP) has warned importers, hoarders, sellers and online platforms to stop immediately the sale and distribution of goods banned by the Government of Nepal.

The department issued a notification on Monday after receiving complaints that items subject to full or quantitative restrictions on export or import were being traded through physical and digital channels. It said such activity contravenes the Export (Control) Act, 2013 BS and related notices published in the Nepal Gazette on various dates, including Asadh 2, 2076 and Chaitra 24, 2076.

The DCSCP warned that unauthorised importation, storage and sale or distribution of prohibited goods is punishable under law and urged all concerned parties to comply fully with the obligations, conditions and restrictions prescribed by statute.

It added that action will be taken under the Export and Import (Control) Act, 2013, the Consumer Protection Act, 2075 and other prevailing laws if prohibited items are found to be traded in breach of the rules.
