KATHMANDU: Nepali entrepreneur Samir Khanal has opened Rosewood Pharmacy in Mayfair, Central London, in a ceremony officiated by Sheikh Faisal Bin Khalid Al Qasimi of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) royal family.

The pharmacy is on property owned by Khanal in Mayfair, an area noted for luxury shopping, world‑class hotels, fine dining, Georgian architecture and its proximity to Hyde Park. The opening was attended by senior figures from the Nepali diaspora and business community, including Non‑Resident Nepali Association ICC President Dr Hemraj Sharma, NRNA UK President Rajendra Pudasaini, Britain‑Nepal Chamber of Commerce President Biraj Bhatta, Chitwan Aid Trust President Raju Acharya and Grande International Hospital chairman Engineer Deepak Kunwar. Entrepreneurs LN Pandey, Kamal Poudel and Basanta Nepal were also present, alongside other British and Nepali business and community representatives.

Speakers at the event said the presence of a Nepali entrepreneur in Mayfair brings pride to the Nepali community and will help raise the profile of Nepali products in the international market. They expressed confidence that offering premium Nepali goods in a prestigious London location will promote the country and its produce and provide encouragement to the Non‑Resident Nepali community.

Khanal has spent fifteen years promoting Nepali herbs in London under the brand Sarayu. The brand imports raw materials from Nepal, including premium Himalayan wild honey, Yarsagumba and Shilajit, which are used to manufacture and distribute herbal products in London.

He said Rosewood Pharmacy will act as a platform to introduce Nepali products to the global market as well as sell medicines. Standard pharmacy items will be offered at prices comparable with other local pharmacies, while premium brand products will be priced accordingly.

Originally from Chitwan and formerly resident in Maharajgunj, Kathmandu, Khanal said his business success has been built through sustained effort and professional honesty. “Hard work is certainly necessary, but that alone is not enough. My learning is that if you work hard at the right time and in the right place, you will definitely succeed,” he said.

Khanal added that he remains committed to expanding the international market for Nepali products and intends to continue developing his business in the years ahead.
