IME Khalti joins 'Taxpayer Incentive Gift Programme, 2083' administered by IRD

KATHMANDU: IME Khalti has enabled its users to take part in the 'Taxpayer Incentive Gift Programme, 2083', run by the Inland Revenue Department under the Ministry of Finance, the company said on Thursday.

Khalti users who make eligible digital payments of more than Rs 100 through the app will be automatically entered into daily and fortnightly prize draws. The programme awards one daily winner Rs 100,000 after tax deduction, and one bumper winner every 15 days, Rs 1 million.

Details of qualifying transactions made via Khalti will be transmitted securely to the Inland Revenue Department’s platform, and gift coupons will be generated automatically and made visible in the Khalti app. The Department will select winners through an automated system on the 1st and 16th of each month and notify them by mobile phone and email. Khalti said it will also inform winners through its own channels.

The company said the initiative aims to expand the use of receipt-backed digital transactions and to increase consumer confidence in electronic payments, which it said will help with transaction record-keeping and support the formal economy and national revenue collection.

IME Khalti is a Nepal Rastra Bank–licensed payment service provider formed by the integration of IME Pay and Khalti. Operating under the brand 'Khalti by IME', the company said it has more than 12.7 million registered users and offers digital payments, merchant QR, invoice and utility payments, ticketing, remittance and other financial services.
