DAMAULI, TANAHUN: Finance Minister Dr Swarnim Wagle has said the Ghumaune Bridge over Trishuli River, linking Tanahun and Chitwan districts, will be constructed under a new contract.
Speaking at a meeting in Aanbukhaireni Rural Municipality-3 on Wednesday, Dr Wagle, who represents Tanahun-1 in Parliament, said the previous contract for the bridge had been terminated, and work will now proceed under a fresh agreement.
He recalled his long-standing interest in a bridge connecting Aanbukhaireni Rural Municipality and Bharatpur Metropolitan City during his earlier term as a Member of Parliament and said he had raised the matter repeatedly in the legislature.
Dr Wagle said he had instructed the Minister for Infrastructure Development to resume construction of the bridge “at any cost” and added that the current government had amended the Procurement Act to improve the quality of development projects.
Shukra Chuman, chairperson of Aanbukhaireni Rural Municipality, urged the Finance Minister to allocate the necessary budget for the municipality’s overall development, highlighting priorities such as infrastructure works, expansion of the road network and promotion of the tourism sector.
