KATHMANDU: Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Nepal Chapter has won the PATA Award of Excellence 2026. The award was presented by PATA headquarters during the PATA Chapter and Student Chapter Awards Ceremony on Monday at Commons Cafe, Old Court House, in Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia, one day ahead of PATA Travel Mart 2026.
Bibhuti Chand Thakur, Immediate Past Chairman of PATA Nepal Chapter, received the award on behalf of the organisation. Extending his gratitude and appreciation to PATA headquarters for the recognition, Thakur acknowledged the dedicated role of the chapter's Executive Committee and Secretariat team, led by its chief executive officer, emphasising that the chapter's milestones and achievements over the years would not have been possible without their efforts.
Suresh Singh Budal, CEO of PATA Nepal Chapter, said it was a proud moment for both PATA Nepal Chapter and Nepal to be recognised once again with the prestigious award. He noted that PATA Nepal Chapter has consistently demonstrated excellence in its advocacy and engagement roles over the years, establishing itself as one of the most active PATA chapters worldwide. He added that the recognition serves as a source of pride and motivation, inspiring the chapter to intensify its continued collaboration towards the sustainable and responsible development of tourism in Nepal and beyond.

The PATA Award of Excellence is presented annually to PATA chapters and student chapters whose activities over the preceding year best exemplify dedication to developing the travel and tourism industry within the Pacific Asia region, in line with PATA's aims and objectives.
Established in 1975 in line with the spirit of PATA headquarters, PATA Nepal Chapter is an independent entity and the only full-fledged tourism association in Nepal. It encompasses public and private sector stakeholders across Nepali tourism, serving advocacy and engagement roles for the industry's sustainable development.
