KATHMANDU: Xiaomi has launched the Redmi 17 Series — the Redmi 17 and the Redmi 17 5G — in the Nepali market, emphasising extended battery life, a 120Hz display and everyday durability.
The series is built around a 7,500mAh battery, one of the largest capacities in its price segment. The devices support 45W turbo-charging for rapid top-ups and offer 22.5W reverse-charging to power secondary devices such as earbuds, smartwatches or other phones. Battery performance varies slightly between the two models, with the Redmi 17 5G providing longer usage hours depending on network connections and user activity.
Both models feature a 6.9-inch HD screen with a 120Hz refresh rate for smoother scrolling and video playback. The standard Redmi 17 runs on the MediaTek Helio G91-Ultra processor, while the Redmi 17 5G uses the Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 Mobile Platform to deliver 5G connectivity. Both handsets run Xiaomi HyperOS 3 and support up to 12GB of RAM via Memory Extension technology for multitasking.
Photography and video capabilities include a 50MP AI dual-camera on the rear and an 8MP front camera, with dual-view video recording to capture content from multiple angles simultaneously. Audio features comprise dual stereo speakers with up to a 300% volume boost, a 3.5mm headphone jack and NFC for contactless payments and quick pairing.
Both models weigh about 232g and carry an IP64 rating for dust and water resistance to cope with daily exposure to the elements.
On pricing and colour options, the Redmi 17 is offered in Black, Deep Blue, Oak Green and Lotus Purple, priced at Rs 27,999 for the 4GB+128GB variant and Rs 33,999 for the 6GB+128GB variant.
