KATHMANDU: Protesters staging a sit-in over microfinance loan repayments at the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) office in Lalitpur have returned home after signing a 14-point agreement with the government.
The accord between the borrowers and government officials brought the sit-in to an end. The group had travelled to the federal capital to press the government and rights bodies to address their grievances.
Travel for the protesters was organised through Sajha Yatayat. A total of 323 people came to Kathmandu from Jhapa, Morang, Sarlahi, Mahottari, Sindhuli, Bara, Parsa and Nawalparasi districts.
This morning, the protesters boarded buses for their respective districts in the presence of government officials.
