NAIMA expresses sorrow after Bhotekoshi River flood hits Rasuwa, pledges support

KATHMANDU: Nepal Automobile Importers and Manufacturers Association (NAIMA) has expressed deep sorrow after a massive flood in Bhotekoshi River earlier today struck Timure, Syafrubesi and Rasuwagadhi in Rasuwa district, causing widespread destruction.

According to preliminary reports, the flood caused extensive damage to infrastructure, including roads, bridges, electricity and telecommunications networks, vehicles, market areas, hydropower projects and public facilities. Security posts, including the Area Police Office, Timure, and police posts in Syafrubesi and Rasuwagadhi, were also hit. The association voiced concern that final figures for human, physical and financial losses may escalate as full details emerge.

Issuing a press statement, NAIMA offered its sympathies to affected residents, families, business owners and local communities, and commended the ongoing rescue, search and relief operations conducted by Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, Nepal, Nepali Army, local administrations and first responders.

With risks remaining high across the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli River corridors, the association requested residents in potentially vulnerable districts — including Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, Gorkha and Chitwan — to remain on high alert, stay in safe locations and strictly follow instructions issued by local authorities.

NAIMA stated that it stands in solidarity with affected communities and remains prepared to cooperate with relevant government agencies and security forces in rescue, relief and rehabilitation efforts.
