NFTA mourns Trishuli flood victims, calls for urgent relief support

KATHMANDU: Nepal Foreign Trade Association (NFTA) has expressed deep sorrow after a sudden, severe flood in the Trishuli River on Wednesday morning caused significant loss of life and extensive damage to property.

The flash flood inflicted widespread destruction across downstream riverside areas below Timure in Rasuwa district. Reports indicate severe damage to roads, bridges, electricity and telecommunications networks, hydroelectric projects, and both private and public housing.

Paying tribute to those who lost their lives, the NFTA extended heartfelt condolences to bereaved families and conveyed its wishes for the prompt rescue of stranded individuals and the swift recovery of the injured.

The trade body commended security personnel and volunteers engaged in search, rescue and relief operations and offered sympathy to all those affected during this difficult period.

With warnings that the threat of further flooding persists, the NFTA urged residents in potentially affected districts — including Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, Gorkha, Tanahun and Chitwan — to remain vigilant, prioritise safety and strictly follow notices and instructions issued by relevant authorities.

The association has urged its members, the public and aid organisations to assist with rescue and relief operations during the ongoing crisis.
