Sadhguru's Isha Nepal pledges Rs 10m to Prime Minister Relief Fund for flood victims

KATHMANDU: Isha Nepal, the foundation led by Sadhguru, has pledged Rs 10 million to the Prime Minister Relief Fund to support victims of the devastating flash floods along the Nepal-Tibet border. The announcement was made during a special gathering held in Lalitpur, which aimed to express solidarity with the nation and offer heartfelt condolences to those impacted by the disaster.

Speaking at the event, Sadhguru noted that the entire burden of a disaster of this magnitude should not be placed solely on the Government of Nepal, calling instead upon the global community and international organisations to work collectively. To address the escalating risks associated with climate change, he said it is imperative for Nepal and its neighbouring nations to look beyond their borders and manage the Himalayan regions as a 'single entity'. He also advised against rushed and haphazard reconstruction, suggesting that a team of experts be established to plan scientific and sustainable restoration to minimise future damage.

Addressing the attendees, acclaimed actress Manisha Koirala expressed deep sorrow over the recurring natural disasters that Nepal has been forced to confront. She emphasised that Nepal, India and China must stand united to tackle the formidable global challenge of climate change.

The event brought together over 3,000 participants to honour those who lost their lives and to pledge collective support during the ongoing crisis. Among those in attendance were the Acting Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Sunita Dangol, and Mayor of Lalitpur Metropolitan City, Chiribabu Maharjan. Concluding the programme, Sadhguru officially confirmed the financial contribution on behalf of his foundation and expressed his commitment to providing further assistance and support to the nation in the days ahead.
