Butterfly Films represents Nepal at International Festival of Creative Industries in Russia

YEKATERINBURG, RUSSIA: Butterfly Films represented Nepal at the International Festival of Creative Industries in Yekaterinburg, Russia.

Delegates at the event discussed international cooperation and co-production opportunities.

The event brought together film industry representatives and delegates from Nepal, Russia, India, South Korea, China and Turkey. Discussions also covered cross-market collaboration and wider access to overseas audiences.

Srijan Shrestha, chief executive officer of Butterfly Films, took part in panel discussions and presented an overview of Nepal’s cinema exhibition landscape, film ecosystem and industry opportunities.

Shrestha highlighted Nepal’s landscapes, cultural identity, global diaspora and original storytelling as strengths that could support international cooperation while preserving the distinct character of Nepali cinema.

The talks focused on developing sustainable relationships between Nepal and overseas film markets rather than limiting cooperation to individual film releases.

Participants also considered opportunities beyond commercial filmmaking, including access to international networks, talent exchanges, co-productions, knowledge sharing and new distribution channels for independent filmmakers, emerging talent, producers and other creative professionals.

Jenish Pahari (Shrestha), managing director of Butterfly Films, has been working to establish international industry discussions and partnerships aimed at increasing global visibility and opportunities for Nepal’s film sector. According to the company, these efforts have supported talks with overseas stakeholders on film distribution, co-production, talent exchange and cross-border creative collaboration.

Butterfly Films said the Yekaterinburg discussions marked another step towards connecting Nepali stories with international audiences and bringing overseas cinema to the Nepali market. The company said it planned to continue talks and pursue partnerships between Nepal and global film industries.
