KATHMANDU: A total of Rs 11.95 billion has been collected in the Prime Minister Disaster Relief Fund and the Prime Minister Relief Fund for people affected by the August 26 Bhotekoshi flood.
According to the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers (OPMCM), deposits in the two funds totalled Rs 11.95 billion as of 5:00 pm on Tuesday.
Of the total, Rs 8.77 billion is held in nine commercial banks, while $21.11 million, equivalent to Rs 3.18 billion, is deposited in the funds’ US dollar accounts maintained at Himalayan Bank and Laxmi Sunrise Bank.
The government has already released Rs 1 billion through the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) to support flood victims in Rasuwa district.
