WorldLink donates Rs 10.1m to Prime Minister Disaster Relief Fund
KATHMANDU: WorldLink Communications has provided Rs 10.1 million in aid for those affected by the Bhotekoshi flash floods that struck on August 26, depositing the funds directly into the Prime Minister Disaster Relief Fund.
The company's chief executive officer, Keshav Nepal, handed over the aid to Finance Minister Dr Swarnim Wagle on Monday. He said the contribution is intended to assist in the rescue, relief and rehabilitation of citizens during this difficult time.
The flooding caused significant damage to WorldLink's network and infrastructure, with preliminary assessments indicating a direct loss of approximately Rs 35 million for the company.
Despite major damage to its own infrastructure, the company restored the affected network and resumed services within three days of the floods to ensure customers and citizens were not left without internet access for an extended period, WorldLink said in a press release.
