Unilever Nepal contributes Rs 50m to Prime Minister Disaster Relief Fund

KATHMANDU: Unilever Nepal (UNL) has contributed Rs 50 million to the Prime Minister Disaster Relief Fund to support relief and recovery operations for communities affected by recent floods across the country.

Alongside the financial assistance, the company has dispatched nearly 26 tonnes of essential hygiene products for daily use, valued at Rs 10 million. As floodwaters recede and rehabilitation work progresses, the provision of these materials aims to restore safe and healthy living conditions for those affected by the disaster.

The relief package includes hygiene and home-care products from brands such as Lifebuoy, Lux, Sunsilk, Closeup, Vim and Rin. The supplies are intended to help families clean and disinfect their surroundings, thereby reducing health risks associated with flood-related contamination and supporting essential personal hygiene.

Commenting on the initiative, Amlan Mukherjee, managing director of Unilever Nepal, said, “Nepal has always shown remarkable resilience in the face of adversity. During challenging times like these, it is important for all of us to come together and support those most affected. We hope to assist ongoing relief efforts and support families as they begin to recover.”

The company stated that the assistance forms part of its ongoing commitment to public well-being and supports collective efforts to help communities through difficult circumstances, with a focus on health and hygiene.
