KATHMANDU: The ninth CG Properties Nepal Land, Housing and Construction Expo is set to begin at Bhrikutimandap, Kathmandu on September 17, offering houses for as little as Rs 7.75 million and discounts of up to 25% on land. The four-day event, concluding on September 20, aims to provide affordable options for middle-class consumers amid a sluggish property market.
The four-day expo will be jointly organised by the Nepal Land and Housing Developers’ Association (NLHDA) and the Nepal Land and Housing Developers’ Federation (NLHDF) under the theme, ‘Safe housing, the right of every citizen’.
Siya Events and Associates will manage the event in collaboration with the Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC), which is marking its 75th Diamond Jubilee.
Organisers have announced a token booking amount of just Rs 5,001, which is fully refundable if the buyer is not satisfied with the land. Additionally, the expo will introduce a concept for two-storey, three-bedroom houses near Kathmandu costing up to Rs 14 million, which will be particularly convenient for residents of Nuwakot and Rasuwa districts.
NLHDA President Deepak Kunwar stated that the plan relies on a mass-housing model. This approach involves building multiple houses and selling them at a lower profit margin to reduce overall costs. Companies such as Grande Developers will present these residential projects.
Addressing the financial challenges faced by middle-class buyers, Dr Gokul Prasad Burlakoti, senior legal adviser to NLHDF, said, "Consumers wishing to buy a house or land at the expo will be able to communicate directly with the sellers to obtain information about the project’s location, price, construction status, payment process and other conditions."
Expo coordinator Roshan Bhoyadhyo noted that customers could select properties based on their budgets and even hand over construction responsibilities to developers. Companies will also provide opportunities for partnership investment in the property sector.
Visitors will have access to free consultations on property transactions and construction. With banks and financial institutions participating, prospective buyers can obtain details about housing loans, investments and financial management in one place. Organisers highlighted that recent improvements in banking liquidity and declining interest rates could increase credit flow into the property sector. Experts will also provide technical advice on earthquake-resistant structures, house design, cost management and Vastu Shastra.
The exhibition will feature construction materials, including cement, steel, paint, timber, glass, sanitary ware, electrical appliances, furniture and interior design products. A strong emphasis will be placed on green construction technology, showcasing solar energy, rainwater harvesting and waste-management solutions to address rising energy costs and climate risks.
As part of its social initiatives, a free health camp and blood donation drive will be organised in partnership with Om Hospital and Grande International Hospital. Furthermore, the event aims to be paperless, using digital standees, electronic kiosks, digital displays and virtual reality technology.
To support youth entrepreneurship in the housing sector, selected young businesspeople will receive free training and professional counselling. The event’s title sponsors are CG Properties and CG Holdings. It is powered by Asian Paints and supported by Prabhu Insurance, Smart Paani, KB and UHS Holdings.
