NLPGA urges retailers to sell cooking gas at Rs 2,060 in Kathmandu Valley
KATHMANDU: Nepal LP Gas Association (NLPGA) has urged industrialists and retailers to sell and distribute cooking gas in the Kathmandu Valley at the previous price of Rs 2,060 per cylinder, effective Friday, September 18.
NLPGA President Diwan Bahadur Chand said the request follows the reopening of the Prithvi Highway and asked that all sellers be informed and resume selling gas at the usual price.
The association said transport has resumed after an alternative track was opened on the previously obstructed section, removing the need for gas companies to use longer diversion routes.
The NLPGA, on September 4, had temporarily asked that gas be sold at Rs 2,165 per cylinder, which included an additional Rs 105.35 for transport freight on top of the base liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) price of Rs 2,060 set by the Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC).
The Prithvi Highway had been blocked earlier after flooding in the Trishuli River. Gas companies were forced to refill cylinders at bottling plants in Makawanpur, Parsa, Bara, Chitwan, Nawalparasi and Dhading, and then transport them to Kathmandu by truck via alternative routes.
