Govt allocates Rs 250m for Buddha Circuit trail in Kavrepalanchok

KAVREPALANCHOK: The federal government has allocated Rs 250 million to develop major historical, religious and tourist sites in the south-eastern region of Kavrepalanchok district into a Buddha Circuit trail, Madhu Chaulagain, a Member of Parliament for Kavrepalanchok, said.

The circuit will link the historical town of Panauti, Namobuddha and Temal, Chaulagain said.

In the first phase, Rs 100 million will fund the construction of physical and cultural heritage structures related to Lord Buddha along the Panauti–Namobuddha road. Prayer wheels, chaityas and statues of the Laughing Buddha will be installed at various locations, alongside information boards displaying Thangka art.

Chaulagain said the objective is to transform the approximately eight-kilometre Panauti–Namobuddha road into an attractive tourist route enriched with heritage sites associated with Lord Buddha.

As part of the project, a Ratuwa deer park will be built in the Bokse Community Forest at Dapcha, on the Namobuddha–Bhakunde road section. A Cultural Confluence Gate will also be constructed at the Chardobato intersection in Bhakundebesi along the BP Highway.
