Prime Minister Disaster Relief Fund exceeds Rs 15bn following Rasuwa flood

KATHMANDU: Contributions continue to pour into government relief funds for people affected by the August 26 flood in the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa, with the total balance in the Prime Minister Disaster Relief Fund and Prime Minister Relief Fund exceeding Rs 15 billion to date.

According to the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, the Prime Minister Disaster Relief Fund currently has more than Rs 11.27 billion deposited in nine commercial banks.

In addition, more than $24.80 million is maintained in accounts at Himalayan Bank and Laxmi Sunrise Bank. The total balance across all the accounts stands at more than Rs 15.6 billion.

The government has already released Rs 1 billion from the Fund for relief and rehabilitation in the flood-affected areas across Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, and Chitwan, among other districts.
