Amazing Muay Thai National Festival 2026 concludes in Lalitpur

LALITPUR: The Amazing Muay Thai National Festival 2026 concluded in Lalitpur on Saturday. The three-day competition attracted more than 160 fighters from across Nepal.

The national-level championship organised by WBC Muay Thai Lalitpur took place from September 17 to 19. Two rings operated simultaneously to accommodate the large roster of athletes, allowing multiple bouts to be held at the same time. WBC Muay Thai Lalitpur said the total attendance was over 5,000 across the three days.

Chiribabu Maharjan, Mayor of Lalitpur Metropolitan City, attended the closing and awards ceremony to present trophies and recognise the competitors’ achievements. His presence underlined the metropolis' support for youth engagement and local sporting initiatives.

Competitors travelled from gyms and regions nationwide to contest a range of weight divisions and categories. The event provided a national platform for athletes to display their skills, discipline and competitive spirit, reflecting the sport’s growing reach within Nepal.

WBC Muay Thai Lalitpur said the festival aimed to promote Muay Thai across the country, encourage youth participation in sport and provide a structured competitive arena for both emerging and established fighters. The event also emphasised core sporting values such as physical fitness, respect, determination and sportsmanship.

Following the final matches, the organisers thanked athletes, coaches, referees, judges, volunteers, sponsors, supporting organisations, media and spectators for their contributions to the festival’s success.

WBC Muay Thai Lalitpur reiterated its commitment to developing the sport through structured championships and athlete advancement programmes, with the stated goal of guiding fighters from grassroots levels to higher national and international stages.
