Heavy rain forces closure of Narayangadh-Muglin section of Prithvi Highway

CHITWAN: Heavy rain over two days has forced the closure of the Narayangadh-Muglin section of the Prithvi Highway, authorities said.

Vehicles have been barred from the stretch since 8:00 pm on Thursday after landslides at several points blocked the roadway, Superintendent of Police Rameshwar Paudel of Chitwan District Police Office said.

On Friday afternoon, traffic bound for Pokhara and vehicles coming from Narayangadh that had been held up at the obstructions were allowed to proceed under a managed one-way system.

Officials warned that rockfalls continue to occur intermittently, making the route unsafe for night-time travel. In view of the ongoing risk, local authorities have imposed a night‑time restriction on vehicle movement along the section.
