BP Highway reopens after four-day closure

KAVREPALANCHOK: The BP Highway, which had been blocked for four days by flooding and landslides following heavy rain, reopened to traffic today.

The Division Road Office, Bhaktapur, said vehicular movement that had been halted at several points was resumed this morning after temporary diversions were built and landslide debris removed.

Division Chief Suman Yogesh said, “A diversion will be constructed at Chaukidanda once the water flow of the rivulet decreases.”

Flooding on Roshi Khola swept away temporary diversions at Chaukidanda, Katunje, Piple and Mamti, while landslides at Daunne-Kalopul and Charsayabesi also blocked the highway, the office reported.

“One-way traffic has now resumed at risk areas and activities are underway to bring two-way traffic into operation,” the office added.
