PM relief funds balance reach Rs 16.15bn

KATHMANDU: The total balance in the Prime Minister Disaster Relief Fund has reached Rs 16.15 billion, according to the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers.

The balance held across nine commercial banks for the Prime Minister Disaster Relief Fund stands at Rs 12.05 billion, whilst the US dollar accounts held at Himalayan Bank and Laxmi Sunrise Bank contain a total of $27.1 million.

The government has already disbursed Rs 1 billion from the accumulated funds to assist the areas affected by the flooding.

Financial contributions continue to pour into the Prime Minister Disaster Relief Fund and the Prime Minister Relief Fund following the floods in the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa on August 26.
