KATHMANDU: The government has approved the Alternative Development Finance Mobilisation Regulations, 2026, and decided to accept approximately Rs 100 million in grant assistance from the Norwegian government for a programme promoting the clean energy transition in municipalities.
The decisions were taken at a meeting of the Council of Ministers held at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers in Singhadurbar on Monday.
Government Spokesperson and Minister for Education and Sports Sasmit Pokharel said the Cabinet also approved the Nepal Engineering Service (Formation and Division of Group and Class and Appointment) (Second Amendment) Rules, 2026.
The Council of Ministers decided to forward a report submitted by a committee chaired by former Justice Baburam Regmi to the Ministry of Home Affairs for necessary action.
The committee examined whether criminal cases filed against Gen-Z protesters could be withdrawn and submitted recommendations on the matter.
The Cabinet also decided to promote Joint Secretary Padma Kumar Mainali to secretary under the Nepal Engineering Service group and assign him to the Ministry of Infrastructure Development.
