Global IME Bank promotes Deep Chandra Regmi to deputy CEO, Buddhi Akela to assistant CEO

KATHMANDU: Global IME Bank has promoted Deep Chandra Regmi to Deputy Chief Executive Officer and Buddhi Akela to Assistant Chief Executive Officer, following a board meeting on Tuesday.

Regmi, previously Assistant Chief Executive Officer, joined Global IME Bank in 2009 after beginning his banking career at Standard Chartered Bank Nepal in 2007. He has held senior roles across finance, credit, human resources and trade finance, and currently chairs the bank’s subsidiary Global IME. He holds an MBA from the Asian Institute of Technology and Copenhagen Business School.

Akela has been promoted from Deputy General Manager and Chief Risk Officer to Assistant Chief Executive Officer. He brings over 22 years of banking experience, having started at Nepal Bank in 2004 before joining Global IME Bank in 2006, where he has managed risk, operations, credit and internal audit. He chairs the subsidiary Global IME Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha and holds an MBA from Pokhara University.

Global IME Bank is the first private commercial bank operating across all 77 districts of Nepal and maintains more than 1,000 service centres, including 341 branches and three overseas representative offices. The bank acts as a primary channel for formal international remittances and holds numerous awards, including consecutive Best Bank Nepal titles from 2024 to 2026.
