MUSTANG: Vehicular movement has resumed on Beni-Jomsom route in Mustang, allowing 173 cargo containers to depart for their destinations.
The containers, carrying goods imported from China, have left for Pokhara, Kathmandu and other urban areas.
Police Inspector and Information Officer at Mustang District Police Office, Sanotosh Basyal, said containers that arrived via the Korala border point began moving out of Mustang after the obstructed road reopened.
The Beni-Jomsom road had been blocked for about two weeks, leaving the containers stranded. The route reopened on Friday evening, after which 85 cargo containers left Mustang on the first day and a further 88 on the second day.
Police at the post in Ghasa of Thasang Rural Municipality-4, on the border between Myagdi and Mustang, reported that 391 vehicles departed Mustang in the two days following the resumption of transport, and more than 50 vehicles left today.
“Supplies of apples produced in Mustang have also started to move,” said the proprietor of Chimle Apple Farming, Karma Gurung.
