5 bodies found along with wreckage of Manang Air chopper

KATHMANDU: A wreckage of Manang Air helicopter has been found in Lamjura Pass region in Likhupike Rural Municipality-5 of Solukhumbu district, according to Solukhumbu's Chief District Officer (CDO) Basant Bhattarai. The helicopter of Manang Air with the call sign 9NA-MV en route from Solukhumbu to Kathmandu carrying five passengers and a pilot had lost contact after 10:01 am today. All the passengers were Mexican nationals. CDO Bhattarai said the bodies of five persons were found at the site where the helicopter crashed. The site is on the border of Likhupike and Umakunda Rural Municipality of Ramechhap district. Earlier, a helicopter of Altitude Air was mobilised under the leadership of Captain Bibek Khadka to search for the missing helicopter of Manang Air, according to Deputy Manager at the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN), Gyanendra Bhul.
