KATHMANDU: Finance Minister Barsha Man Pun has stated that the country can progress by respecting labour and fostering self-reliance in production. He emphasised that prideful leaders and cadres play a crucial role in this endeavour.

Addressing the second assembly of the Achham-Kathmandu Liaison Coordination Committee of the CPN (Maoist Centre) held in Kathmandu on Saturday, Finance Minister Pun mentioned that the upcoming fiscal year's budget includes programmes and allocations to promote production and generate employment.

The Maoist Centre leader emphasised that production growth should not merely benefit a select few but contribute to development based on equality and social justice.

Pun expressed his belief that achieving equality and social justice requires maintaining good governance while tackling corruption.

Furthermore, Finance Minister Pun highlighted that the upcoming fiscal year's budget prioritises agriculture, tourism, hydropower, information technology, and production sectors, with special attention given to all seven provinces.

Pun also noted that each province has a distinct characteristic highlighted in the upcoming year's budget.
