KATHMANDU: Rakura, Nepal's premier tea exporter, has unveiled its latest tea products, propelling Nepali tea onto the global stage.

The company, established in 1973, has introduced the revolutionary magic knot teabags, featuring state-of-the-art Tandem Air-knotted technology. These teabags are among the world's first fully plastic and glue-free options.

The magic knot teabags use ultramodern, unbleached-filter paper, devoid of chlorine and other harmful substances. This innovation allows the teabags to be OKCOMPOST-certified and home-compostable while delivering a clean-tasting tea experience. Additionally, Rakura offers certified organic, unbleached thread and easy-hold tags made of food-grade materials.

With over five decades of experience, Rakura has created 21 new tea varieties and improved existing blends, achieving one of the world's largest tea collections. Their teabags come in environmentally friendly, individually wrapped freshness packs, packed in FSC-certified, sustainably-sourced packaging.

Rakura's commitment extends beyond quality. They employ clean-room protocols to ensure germ and allergen-free tea-bagging facilities. Furthermore, Rakura aims to be carbon and plastic-neutral by 2030, emphasising their dedication to health and eco-friendliness.

"Drawing on our legacy of pioneering advancements in the Nepali tea industry, we've ushered in a new era for Nepal's tea," explained Neeraj Rathi, Managing Director of Rakura. "We meticulously reevaluated every component in our product line, aiming to deliver unparalleled quality. Our next-generation products stand out as the healthiest and most eco-friendly globally, combining all our innovations in a single pack."
