KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli said the government must ensure citizens have access to all opportunities in labour and employment.
Launching the Shramsansar online portal on the occasion of the 136th International Workers' Day (May Day) in Kathmandu today, PM Oli highlighted the need to address challenges related to foreign employment.
He stressed that all government services related to labour, employment, and social security must be easily accessible to all citizens by integrating the portal into Nagarik app.
Speaking on the necessity of IT technology in achieving the goal of "Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali," he said IT plays a crucial role in building a knowledge-based society, developing a digital economy, advancing prosperity, and providing services to citizens more efficiently.
He added that the government has recognised the importance of incorporating IT into the labour market in its upcoming policies and programmes.
Stating that strategic plans are underway to designate the upcoming decade as the Decade for Promoting Internal Service, he urged all stakeholders to take part in the initiative.
The portal aims to support employment-related matters, analyse labour demand and supply, regulate employers, and improve access to services without physical or bureaucratic barriers. By enhancing skills and managing the labour force, the system seeks to strengthen grassroots inclusion and contribute to national prosperity.
