DHANUSHA: The recent military tensions between India and Pakistan have led to increased security measures along the Nepal-India border, prompting security forces to strengthen surveillance at key border points.
In Dhanusha district, security has been heightened, particularly in Jatahi and Bhittamod, with both Nepali and Indian security personnel deployed at these locations.
Deputy Inspector General of the Armed Police Force (APF) Nepal, Krishna Dhakal, stationed at Chhinnamasta Barracks, stated that individuals crossing the border are being questioned about their identity and destination.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Pramod Raya, deployed at Jatahi, said, "We have intensified security surveillance."

Officials stated that these heightened measures were necessary due to the sensitivity of the border points in relation to security concerns. However, they confirmed that Nepal has not been directly affected by the India-Pakistan tensions.
Additionally, local markets near the border have been impacted by the tighter security checks, with residents reporting disruptions to daily life.
Increased security in Rupandehi
Similar security measures have been introduced in Rupandehi district, where the APF Nepal has intensified operations at Belahiya, Lumbini, and Bhagawanpur border points. Sniffer dogs have also been deployed in the area.
Earlier on Wednesday, Nepal’s Central Security Committee decided to step up surveillance at border regions and airports in response to regional security concerns.
