Government prioritises entrepreneurship, investment, social security in budget for FY 2025/26

KATHMANDU: The government aims to achieve high, sustainable and broad-based economic growth to alleviate poverty.

Presenting the annual budget for the fiscal year 2025/26 at the joint session of the Federal Parliament today, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel stated that employment will be generated through entrepreneurship development and expansion of public and private investment.

The budget seeks to enhance economic capacity by adopting modern technology, establish social justice through social protection and development, and promote quality public services and good governance.

Finance Minister Paudel stated that high priority has been given to increasing entrepreneurship, employment, production and productivity, alongside investment in high-quality physical infrastructure that delivers returns. He also noted that qualitative improvements in the social sector, balanced development, social security measures with citizen-friendly services, corruption control and governance reforms will be implemented.
