Budget: Govt sets carbon trading policy, allocates Rs 18.61bn for MoFE

KATHMANDU: The government has allocated Rs 18.61 billion for the Ministry of Forests and Environment for the upcoming fiscal year and has introduced measures to address environmental concerns, including a clear policy arrangement for carbon trading and necessary arrangements to preserve mountains, melting snow and glacial lakes that have started drying.

At a joint session of the Federal Parliament today, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel presented the budget for the upcoming fiscal year 2025/26 and stated that necessary arrangements will be made for carbon trading in the international market.

Finance Minister Paudel mentioned that the government will provide the necessary facilitation in the construction of projects in conservation areas.

As per the budget, human-wildlife conflict will be reduced by managing wildlife that causes loss and damage in agriculture, and different programmes will be launched for their co-existence in the next fiscal year.
