KATHMANDU: Zonta Club Kathmandu, in partnership with Ek Ek Paila Foundation, organised a children’s health camp at Masine Village in Chandragiri Municipality, Kathmandu, on May 24. The initiative aimed to enhance access to essential healthcare services for marginalised children in the region, providing a much-needed boost to local community welfare.

Hosted at Champa Sikhar Basic School, the camp delivered comprehensive medical care to more than 50 children. Services included eye, dental, and paediatric care, ensuring that each child received attentive and compassionate treatment from a dedicated team of volunteer healthcare professionals.

“We were heartened by the strong participation of the community and are profoundly grateful to the incredible medical team, the Zontians and volunteers whose compassion and commitment made this initiative possible,” said Bina Rana, President of Zonta Club Kathmandu. Her remarks highlighted the collaborative spirit behind the event and the collective effort to address the healthcare needs of the underprivileged.

The volunteer medical team comprised specialists such as Dr Binita Adhikari, a Consultant Dentist; Dr Sajani Dongol, a General Physician; Kripa Shrestha, an Optometrist; and Parbati Gurung, a Dental Nurse. The team was led by Zontians Dr Sabina Shah Pahari, who conducted paediatric check-ups, and Dr Jyoti Aryal, who performed dental examinations and provided essential lessons on dental hygiene.

During the camp, dental check-ups and extractions were carried out, with 32 out of 51 children identified as having dental concerns requiring further attention. Paediatric consultations were also conducted and essential medications were distributed. An oral hygiene education session empowered the children to adopt healthy, lifelong habits, while a strong focus on preventive care and early health awareness underpinned the day’s activities.

In addition to essential healthcare services, the initiative extended its support by providing each child with a gift bag containing body powder, massage oil, and soap, courtesy of Ek Ek Paila. Unilever Nepal supported the camp by supplying toothpaste for all the children. Through this campaign, Zonta Club Kathmandu reinforces its commitment to fostering a lasting impact through health, education, and empowerment.
