KATHMANDU: Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) President Chandra Prasad Dhakal and International Monetary Fund (IMF) Nepal Mission Chief Dr Sarwat Jahan held a meeting at the FNCCI Secretariat in Kathmandu.
Discussions focused on the budget for fiscal year 2025/26, monetary policy, Nepal’s economic condition, and cooperation between the Government of Nepal and the IMF.
During the meeting, President Dhakal stated that the budget for current fiscal year has prioritised the private sector as a key economic driver. He mentioned that the budget incorporated FNCCI’s suggestions and emphasised the necessity of effective implementation.
“We have taken the budget positively. The budget aims for 6% economic growth, which is achievable with sincere implementation,” Dhakal remarked. However, he also raised concerns regarding the tourism sector and hydropower development, stating that further prioritisation was needed.
