OPPO A5 smartphone unbreakable design launched in Nepal

KATHMANDU: OPPO today launched the OPPO A5 in Nepal, adding it to its A Series smartphone line-up.

The OPPO A5 is a rugged powerhouse designed for relentless reliability, featuring IP65 water- and dust-resistance, military-grade shock resistance and a 6,000 mAh battery with an industry-leading five-year lifespan.

Engineered for timeless toughness, the A5’s sealed design blocks particles such as sand, dirt and lint, making it ideal for outdoor activities, construction sites or dusty environments. Its IP65 rating also guards against rain, accidental spills and household splashes, offering all-round protection whatever the weather.

Additional safeguards include silicone gaskets on critical ports such as the SIM tray and a waterproof USB-C socket. Internally, strategically placed foam adhesive and precision-applied glue reinforce components against vibration and impact. The phone’s double-tempered glass screen carries an SGS Gold Label rating and can withstand impacts 160% greater than standard glass, while a high-strength alloy frame protects core elements from daily hazards. OPPO’s tests show the A5 survives common drops and key scratches—and even extreme scenarios such as being run over by a vehicle.

The A5 sets a new benchmark in battery endurance within its price segment. Its 6,000 mAh cell employs OPPO’s centralised-tab design to reduce internal resistance, increase charge-discharge speeds, minimise heat and enhance safety. The advanced layout also optimises internal space for a slimmer profile and greater energy efficiency. As a result, the A5 delivers up to 16.34 hours of continuous YouTube streaming, 26.6 hours of voice calls with the screen off and 450 hours of standby time.

Unusually at this price point, the battery retains over 80% of its original capacity after 1,700 charge cycles—equivalent to five years of typical use—thanks to OPPO’s in-house hardware and software innovations. It also supports 45 W SUPERVOOC™ Flash Charge, reaching 30% in 21 minutes and 100% in 84 minutes.

Underlying the A5’s performance is ColorOS 15, which introduces advanced AI features including Google Gemini to streamline tasks and boost productivity. AI-powered photography tools complement the 50 MP Ultra-Clear main camera, 2 MP depth sensor and 5 MP front camera, alongside creative modes such as Portrait. OPPO’s proprietary Trinity Engine provides system-level optimisations to meet the 48-Month Fluency Protection certification, ensuring smooth performance even after four years of use.

The handset is powered by the Snapdragon® 6 s 4G Gen 1 Mobile Platform with up to 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage, expandable via OPPO’s RAM Expansion feature. A 1,000-nit Ultra Bright Display, 300% Ultra Volume Mode and Seamless Cellular/Wi-Fi Network Switching 2.0 deliver immersive visuals, powerful audio and stable connectivity for gaming and entertainment.

Measuring just 7.99 mm thick and weighing 193 g, the OPPO A5 continues the A Series’ lightweight, ultra-slim design. It will be available in Aurora Green and Mist White, each finished with CNC-machined UV texture printing for a premium matte-gloss effect.

The A5 (6 GB RAM + 128 GB) is priced at Rs 22,999 and is available across all retail stores in Nepal. Customers may also purchase on EMI at 0% interest, with a 40% deposit and a 12-month instalment plan. As a special launch offer, buyers between July 10 and August 9, 2025 will receive up to two years of extended warranty.
