
KATHMANDU: The office bearers of Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) met Minister for Home Affairs, Ramesh Lekhak, recently.
During the meeting, CNI requested that effective steps be taken to halt illegal trade in the border areas. CNI President Birendra Raj Pandey said illegal trade had not only affected domestic industries but also reduced government revenue.
Minister Lekhak said a secretary-level meeting between the governments of Nepal and India would discuss measures to stop illegal trade along the border. He added that the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) was committed to controlling illegal imports and creating an environment conducive to tourism. Inspector General of Police (IGP) Deepak Thapa was also present.
The meeting was attended by CNI’s immediate past president Rajesh Kumar Agrawal; vice presidents Raj Bahadur Shah, Hem Raj Dhakal, Amit More, Bhim Ghimire and Gokul Bhandari; executive committee member Sandeep Sharda; Director General Ghanshyam Ojha; and other representatives.
