KATHMANDU: Premier International School has joined forces with educational startup Embark UnMath to stage Numeracy Week 2025, a five-day initiative designed to reconnect students with mathematics through hands-on, experiential learning.

Classrooms were transformed into vibrant hubs of creativity and exploration, where students engaged in activities linking numerical concepts with storytelling, design and physical movement. These sessions aimed to foster both imagination and mathematical confidence.

Key events included maths storytelling, in which students crafted narratives around numbers; board-game design workshops that challenged them to apply strategic thinking; relay races combining athleticism with rapid calculation; and extempore sessions, where learners spoke spontaneously on mathematical ideas.

Divesh Bathija, co-founder of Embark UnMath, said, “At Embark UnMath, we believe maths should be rooted in real-world thinking. Numeracy Week at Premier International School was more than a celebration; it marked a shift in how maths is seen, felt and experienced. Through storytelling, movement, design and dialogue, students rediscovered maths not just as learners but as creators.”

Launched in 2012, Embark UnMath specialises in bringing maths out of textbooks and into real life through joyful, fear-free learning activities. The organisation seeks to transform abstract concepts into engaging, hands-on experiences and to ignite a lasting passion for mathematics.
