KATHMANDU: Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC) and Sri Lanka Chamber of Small and Medium Industries (SLCSMI) have signed a strategic partnership agreement to promote small and medium enterprises (SMEs), trade and investment, coordinated by the Embassy of Nepal in Sri Lanka.
The agreement was signed by NCC President Kamlesh Kumar Agrawal and SLCSMI President Prof Rohan de Silva in the presence of Nepal’s Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Purna Bahadur Nepali.
Under its terms, both organisations will promote SMEs, explore opportunities for bilateral trade and investment, and facilitate private-sector trade between Nepal and Sri Lanka.
They will cooperate on best practices, policy frameworks, capacity-building programmes, training and workshops related to SMEs in each other’s countries. Representatives from both chambers will collaborate on bilateral meetings and investment initiatives.
The partnership will see the NCC and SLCSMI coordinate exhibitions and trade promotions for goods produced by SMEs in each country. Joint research and studies will be conducted on bilateral trade facilitation, technology transfer and the growth potential of small and medium industries.
According to an NCC statement, the strategic partnership marks a milestone in efforts to strengthen SMEs in both Nepal and Sri Lanka.
