KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) has unveiled a bill to amend and integrate the law on non-governmental organisation (NGO) registration, regulation and management within a framework for concerned stakeholders and the general public.

According to the ministry, the bill has been introduced to facilitate the formulation of a new law providing arrangements for the registration and management of organisations.

The measure is also deemed necessary to maintain good governance in institutional organisation, development and operations by mainstreaming the role of organisations active in the social service and development sector and ensuring they are transparent, accountable and responsible.

Since assuming office, Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has introduced several bills emphasising legal and policy reforms at the ministry.

In this context, the MoHA has published the bill and is inviting submissions from the general public over a 15-day period.
