KATHMANDU: Embark UnMath, launched in 2012 to bring maths out of textbooks and into real life through joyful, fear-free learning, delivered a five-day interactive training programme at Ankuram School, Shiksha Bikash School and Small Heaven School in Chitwan from August 4 to 8.

The programme aimed to strengthen teachers’ capacity to design and deliver planned classroom activities independently while ensuring alignment with best practices in maths education.

At Ankuram School on August 4 and 5, teachers led activities unaided as Embark UnMath staff observed and offered on-the-spot guidance. Sessions combined observation with targeted support to boost lesson-delivery confidence.

During the visit to Shiksha Bikash School on August 6 and 7, the team first demonstrated effective classroom strategies through model lessons before guiding teachers through hands-on practice sessions. Observers noted a marked rise in student participation as interactive techniques replaced traditional lectures.

On August 8 at Small Heaven School, Embark UnMath facilitated intensive practice workshops. Teachers took turns leading games and collaborative exercises designed to demystify mathematical concepts under close mentorship.

A teacher from Small Heaven School said, “Seeing the students respond so enthusiastically to the activities gives us confidence to try these methods more often.”

A teacher from Shiksha Bikash School said, “The students are actively participating in games and activities, while they used to be passive during traditional lectures.”

Following the programme, Embark UnMath confirmed it will continue supporting teachers with regular follow-up visits and guidance as they embed these interactive, student-centred approaches into their curricula.
