KATHMANDU: The government’s total expenditure stood at Rs 801.37 billion in the first seven months of fiscal year 2025/26, the macroeconomic and financial situation report released by Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) on Wednesday said.
According to the Ministry of Finance, the Financial Comptroller General Office (FCGO), recurrent expenditure amounted to Rs 562.37 billion, capital expenditure to Rs 63.73 billion and financial expenditure to Rs 175.27 billion during the review period.
Meanwhile, total revenue mobilisation of the Government of Nepal, including amounts to be transferred to provincial and local governments, stood at Rs 665.02 billion in the review period. Tax revenue amounted to Rs 599.31 billion and non-tax revenue to Rs 65.71 billion.
Cash balances in various accounts of the Government of Nepal maintained with the NRB stood at Rs 373.73 billion, including provincial and local government accounts, in mid-February 2026. By comparison, such a balance was Rs 149.83 billion in mid-July 2025.
At the provincial level, provincial governments’ total expenditure stood at Rs 48.51 billion in the review period, while their resource mobilisation reached Rs 109.89 billion. The total resource mobilisation of provincial governments includes grants and revenue transferred from the Government of Nepal, amounting to Rs 82.94 billion and revenue and other receipts amounting to Rs 26.51 billion.
